Austin had his first baseball game of the season tonight and he did fantastic! His team was playing an exhibition game against a team from Tooele, it was a pretty short game with no winners or losers, but just a great chance to practice and have some fun. He hit a solid line drive for a single on the second pitch thrown, his first at bat. He then stole second and third base, but got stranded there, when the next batters struck out. He is playing first base this season and he seems to be doing great. He had an amazing catch tonight where he got the third out and sent the other team back to the dugout. His second at bat resulted in another single base hit and a steal to second. He is so much more comfortable and confident this season than he has been in the past. What a difference a year makes.
Tom and I just love watching him play, he has so much fun with it. I wish Tom could have been with us tonight to watch, but he had school, so it was just Anna, Eric and I cheering Austin on. Tom and I made a rule when the kids' first started sports that everyone has to support and watch everyone else's activites. All of us have been to every baseball and soccer game as well as Anna's dance performances. They all grumble and complain throughout each one, but we really feel its important to be there for each other.
I tried to take some pictures, but Austin caught me and turned away, so none of them turned out. He says it makes him very nervous when I take pictures. Maybe I can catch him next time.
